Abstract

For the assessment of professional doses, the in vivo counting of radioactive body burdens plays an important role to answer the requirements for the protective measures of the workers submitted to the risks of contamination. The identification and the quantification of radionuclides inside the body are entailed by a number of parameters which must be determined with a precision in accordance to the legislation. The improvement of the accuracy and the reduction of the detection limits are possible by using numerical simulation of the contaminated organ and by calculating with the aid of MCNP (Monte Carlo N-Particles) code. This method is able to establish accurate description of organs and precise calculation of the burden.
