Abstract
Balloon kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive spinal surgery associated with significant radiation exposure for both patient and surgeon. We present here a way to considerably reduce the amount of radiation received by the surgeon during this procedure using a new injection system: the Cement Delivery System (CDS). The radiation dose to the fingers, wrists and legs was reduced by more than 80% when using the CDS.
