Abstract

The Topical Day addresses issues related to repository performance evaluation and contaminated site remediation. The following topics will be covered (non-exhaustive list): • Integrated modelling of vadoze zone flow and transport processes • Issues of model validation • Flow in capillary barriers (experimental and numerical results) • Radionuclide transport from surface repositories • Water uptake by plant roots (experimental and numerical results) • Processes affecting radionuclide uptake by plant roots • Uranium leaching from agricultural soils (biogeochemical application)
